Teaching Philosophy

As a music educator (piano, opera, voice, and conducting), singing or playing any instrument is the awakening of one's soul and whispering with other souls. Each student has hidden artistic instinct and I always love to help them discover and ascend to the next level.

The serious music study demands understanding all the fundamental elements. When we have a firm basic frame, such as understanding the special characters of one’s instruments including the physical instrument(voice), the quality of music would be reborn brilliantly.

The most important technique is to relax one's body and healthy breath regardless of instrumentalist or vocalist. In addition to this structure, there is one more mandatory assignment that should always bring into our musical life. That is the warmth of humanity. This integral element makes a significantly different quality of music.

As a teacher, my goal is to provide a warm and welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. It is very important for the students who have a huge potential in their deepest inside which the students do not even recognize themselves yet. We, the educator should navigate to find the hidden talent with the student. I know it can be a long journey, but for our descendants, this work should be our mission.

Through music, I will be a guide for the students to be disciplined, creative, and work cooperatively with others. I always hope the students would enjoy hearing the sounds of their souls while they are playing or singing. Finally, I believe music is the most powerful communication in the universe of language.
